Bounty Hunter
My brake lights work but only when the pedal is about 1/2 way down and the brakes are on firm. Is there anything I can do to the brake light switch on the pedal to make it turn on as soon as I tap the pedal? Thanks :brows:
jimoshel
There is no adjustment on '90 back. Just '91 and later. However sometimes there is enough slack that a little adjustment can be made.Loosen the 2 nuts holding the brake pedal to the pushrod. Hold the switch forward, toward the firewall, and tighten the 2 nuts. If that doesn't get it, remove the switch. Use a rat tail file and elongate the hole a little. The back part of the hole. You want the switch to move forward, toward the firewall.
fiatslug87
You might just need a new one. They're only $10, it's not worth the time removing, modifying, reinstalling and having it work the same. I replaced mine a while ago because it stopped working. The replacement one from Kragens took a lot of pedal travel to engage, took it back, got one from NAPA and it's very sensitive.
