The instructions that came with my IAC said I had to drive the vehicle for several minutes at above 40MPH for the ECM to reset the IAC inputs.

 

Also, I had an air leak in the manifold to brake booster hose.

Yeah, when I had that problem and replaced mine it said to disconnect the battery. Then drive it at 40 for like 20 minutes to let the ecm set it correctly. I went on the highway for a longer time frame and it worked.

so you had this problem and the iac made no difference correct? I'd look for vacuum leaks, especailly at the manifold gasket, and check throttle and linkages to make sure its not binding, or being mechanically held a little open.
