No. Different (inferior) transmission.

I'm sure some of the needed interior pieces like the center console and possibly the tcase shift linkage will be different.

 

It would be much easier to buy a dirt cheap Cherokee to use for the swap. You can find them pretty often for a few hundred bucks for one with accident damage or severe rust.

 

Plus lots of other Cherokee parts are direct swaps into an MJ.

well i guess that i can scrap that idea what i wanted was the 5.2 v8 and the axels but i think that i am going to look for a 91 92- 96 xj

Its been done. Someone had a 5.2 ZJ'ed MJ for sale on CL awhile back...

I wouldnt use the drivetrain other then engine and maybe trans.

 

the 249 t-case is junk but you should be able to adapt a 242.

 

the front axle is a low pinion dana 30 that uses CVs making it weaker then an XJ dana 30 and the rear is a 44A which has an aluminum diff housing and breaks easily its also coil sprung so it would take some work to get it under your MJ.
