CWLONGSHOT
Damn straight!!!  Yesterday, I ordered two ATV Superwinch winches!! I don't even have a machine yet!!! We will pickup his machine the week after next, when he gets home from Maine. I did a little research and as hard as it was decided to buy instead of build another trailer.... SO we bought a 7x12 3500K side and rear loading landscaping style trailer at Cabelas over the weekend. Gonna have momma reg it Tuesday and go pick it up Wednesday or Thursday. It's just like this only the sides in front of the wheels remove and form ramps for side loading. Pop is back up in Maine Vacationing with my sister. (Gotta love retired life) He has been gone a day and a half and has called three times with news of trails and ATV dealers he has stopped at!!! he is SOOOO HOOKED!!! I've been scouring the online sites looking at used machines. Found a couple good prospects...
CWLONGSHOT
UPDATE: Pop made it home, SO ANXIOUS to PU his quad next week... I got the trailer registered and home. I also found a quad! 2007 Polaris Sportsman 700. Its a used machine , but with only 42 miles. It includes a plow, 2500lb Warn winch and a second seat/storage box in the back. We should be able to pick them both up late next week. CW

It's a cheap 3000 Pound champion, but it should be enough to lift a plow. Pic Image Not Found -Gary
CWLONGSHOT
I just bought my first quad, a '99 Polaris Magnum 500 4x4 (like the Sportsman 500, but with a solid rear axle) a few weeks ago for $800 off of CL. Needed a cooling fan and shift linkages. I actually wired up and mounted my spare MJ electric fan just so I could ride it around the weekend I bought it :rotf: It is one ugly and tough SOB. Most parts are plentiful and cheap and the local Polaris dealer will actually service it if need be, unlike my buddies Yamaha... They only will service anything 3yrs old or newer. :fool: I went out last weekend trail riding all day with two buddies. One has a Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4 and the other has a Bruin 250 4x2. The Big Bear got stuck and I ended up pulling him out. :rotf: We were all riding on mud tires. One downside when riding with them is the Polaris should be run in 4LO under 10mph (to not overheat the belt), and shifted into high above 10 mph so it was kind of a PITA to keep shifting and then playing catch-up. Everything on my Polaris has a grease fitting (u-joints, shafts, suspension, steering). Most of the foreign makes don't. Downside it it is somewhat of a PITA changing fluids and you have to use Polaris Fluid at $8 a quart. Other than that I love it. NICE I like what Polaris offers! CWLONGSHOT
GOOD JOB Gary! Looks great, Oh yea 3000K is "just enough" to lift and maneuver the plow!! LOL Here is my Polaris, more and better pics soon: I want to build some plastic protection for the front and rear. Found some nice looking stuff for ideas. . . garyindiane
Atv looks mean. :chillin: That armor should'nt be that bad to fab up. No crazy angles or anything. I really like that rear bumper. -Gary

I was set of round, but now that I see that square stock rotated like that I am really liking the look! Like you say, nothing crazy I should be able to duplicate a good looking, not too heavy yet strong facsimile!! I too really like the Sportsmans looks!!! terrawombat
Also consider building some rails to go around the racks to keep cargo in place while you're on the trails. Polaris loves to include the flattest racks possible on all of their ATVs with an optional wrap-around rail. Unless you're going through trails carrying absolutely nothing, it's a pain when things you thought you securely fastened slide off the back and you don't notice until you're a mile away...been there, done that! Bounty Hunter
You mentioned both of you riding the atv initially, is 2-up riding allowed on a single seat machine where you intend to ride? Most places I've been to only allow a passenger if the machine is designed for it.
CWLONGSHOT
You mentioned both of you riding the atv initially, is 2-up riding allowed on a single seat machine where you intend to ride? Most places I've been to only allow a passenger if the machine is designed for it. Tecnically, no it isn't legal. But its is allowed and something everyone seems to do. My machine came from the factory with one seat, but the PO added a second seat/cargo box. It sits partially on the main seat and partially on the rear rack and the seat back incorperates the rear cargo box. It is very secure and quite comfortable. Remember this is trail riding, not blasting threw the dunes or hi speed bermed corners. Speeds from 10 to 25 MPH. :smart: CW
CWLONGSHOT
Maybe I should re-think the trailer. . . . CW
CWLONGSHOT
We haven't picked them up yet. . . . But we have been working on the trailer!! Added brakes, a CO2 mount and LOWES diamond plate box and tiedowns for the machines. its almost ready, gotta wire the brakes still. I didn't have quite enough wire and EW is closed now... so maybe tomarrow. CW
CWLONGSHOT
Yesterday we got the brake controller for the Jeep. Today we are going to install it and run the wires for the brakes on the trailer then see if she works!! I also picked up a big U bolt, like 8" big. Gonna cut and weld it to the gate as a handle. I also picked up a Kryptonite cable with a "eye" on one end and a loop on the other. I am going to put the eye thru the next plate I make for the lock down of the quads. If I like it I was take apart the first one and add one to it as well. Plcs later... CW
