XJ fuel tank fitment

How much of a difference is there between the MJ and XJ tanks? can a XJ tank be made to fit in my comanche? trying to get around the fuel pump issue. If i can make the XJ tank fit i won't have as much of a problem finding another pump sender unit if i have another problem down the road.

XJ/MJ tanks are very different. You cannot fit an XJ tank under the bed. I have an XJ tank in my 4.0, but it's in the bed.

whilst this is posted... is there any way or has anyone tried to fit a tank in the spare tire space? xj zj cj tj somthing one can get at a jy, something to use as an aux. tank?

Shelbyluv fit a TJ tank in his MJ and used a TJ pump/sender.

Jeepman fit a 15 gal dakota tank in his MJ and used a 97+ XJ pump/sender.

 

Of course, these tanks were used with the 97+ XJ drivetrain swap. Perhaps the fuel pump/sender of all XJs are about the same and could be retrofitted to the dakota tank.

 

I have only done some reading and have not studied the tanks personally.
