I was trying to bleed my clutch and all when fine until I had pressure to the pedal and then I notice that I was pissing clutch fluid from the bottom of the tranny (dust shield)

it never leaked before

as I'm looking in my faithfull haynes manual it doesn't show a slave but a throw out bearing

is there both in there ( never taken a manual tranny apart before just auto)

should I make a trip to the JY tommorow to go and get them or what????

is it worth it to get it new?

This is not something you chance at used. Unless that is, you like taking the transmission down when it fails. This isn't even an aftermarket thing. For clutch slaves/masters, dealer is the best bet for the longest lasting repair.

Please get one from the dealer. I just got a aftermarket one and it lasted 6 hours before it blew out. :headpop: I had to drop the trans again and replace it with a dealer one. I did'nt listen to everyone and ended up regreting it.

I'm confused now .......

some of you talk about a slave cylindre and frome I see its more of a throw out bearing assembly .........

I just called chrysler and I'm looking at about 700$

disc 190$

pressure plate 117$

throw out bearing 300$

and Ive seen some kits on ebay and other websites for around 200$

autozone 377$

napa 229$ just the throw out bearing

any recomended places

there is no way I'm gonna pay 700 for a clutch kit from chrysler

You can get the clutch disc and crap anywhere. Call back to the dealer and ask about a SLAVE CYLINDER. Thats what is pissing out fluid, not your disc.

SLAVE CYLINDER AND CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER are what you NEED to get from THE DEALER.

You have an 1986 4-cylinder, correct? That should have a separate, external hydraulic slave cylinder that can be replaced without dropping the transmission. Jeep began using the internal, combination slave/throwout bearing in 1987.

[EDIT]Never mind -- I was looking at your signature. Your opening post said 4.0L with AX-15. Did you mean external slave? The master cylinder is always external. If you have an AX-15 with the external slave, then there is nothing inside the bellhousing to blow out or leak, but if the slave blows it could be shooting the clutch fluid into the bell housing.

But the external slave with the AX-15 didn't come back until two years after the MJ was out of production. Are you sure you don't have the internal, combination slave/release bearing?

if in all possibility it is external

it could be the snap rings that held his external setup's piston in place could have shot out,

because of lots of pressure, they are prob about 20+ years old so its bound to have happened.

see if you can pull ur slave cyl out, and if you can, inspect the inside part of it,

you could have also blown a seal

let us know what you find
