It is about as basic as swapping out your oil.

Support the transmission, pull the crossmember, unbolt transmission mount, put new transmission mount in, and replace the crossmember.

I replaced mine without dropping crossmember. Just jack trans. up far enough to clear the crossmember. Piece of cake.

thats the way my book says to do it....

Hey Paul, make sure you buy a decent mount. I bought one for $35 from Advance auto parts about 3 months ago and it just started making creaky and squeaky noises.

Funny. I couldn't lift my transmission enough to get in there on my XJ or my MJ (with the modified floor pan).

No biggie. The crossmember adds an additional 15 minutes or so.

just finished it up...bout half hour forty five mins...crossmember has 8 bolts and they sucked to get off.

does it only make the sound while moving or traveling over a bump?

I had a similar sound on my YJ replaced the shocks and tranny mount. Found out the sound was coming from my track bar.

it sounds to me like its right in the middle, where youd rest your right arm while driving....I'm leaning towards control arms but idk for sure.

i don't wanna have to replace the track bar cuz it seems fine. :dunno:

This is where uni-bodys SUK!!! They transmit noises to the far reaches of the body... making diagnosis darn near impossible....

That being said, CAs are a good guess. If your gonna stay with stock arms, don't even think of replacing the bushings... Complete factory arms, with bushings are not very expensive!!

As a mater of fact, if you do have me weld up your links, I have a couple sets of upper CAs. I'll throw two of the best ones in the box for the return trip...
