tallon2064 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Does anyone know how to tell what size shoes are on an 88 2wd comanche? I don't want to take apart before I have new ones. If no one knows can the drum be measured to tell, and if so does anyone know what size drum fits which shoe?
Geonovast Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 If you have the factory axle, they will be 10 inch drums. In either 90 or 91, the D35 got the 9 inch drums when it went to a C-clip design.
tallon2064 Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Both sizes show 10" but one is 1.75 and the other is 2.25 just need to know the width. thanks for the help.
Geonovast Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 The Dana 35 had the 1.75", Dana 44 had the 2.25" The later 9" drums were also 2.25" wide, so make sure you get the correct ones.
jpnjim Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 The Dana 35 had the 1.75", Dana 44 had the 2.25" The later 9" drums were also 2.25" wide, so make sure you get the correct ones. :agree: Tho, some have claimed to have the 10x2.5", without the MT 44, even after the D35 went to minivan brakes (9 x 2.5"). I've never seen it myself, but those that claim it have been pretty adamant about it. (Police package XJ's supposedly got the 10x2.5's too). Short answer: if you have a D35 & 10" brakes, get the 10x1.75's. :smart:
tallon2064 Posted May 1, 2010 Author Posted May 1, 2010 THANKS for all the help, doing the wife's van this weekend but next weekend is the MJ's turn, provided the weather cooperates.
