egghead
OK so i'm on the verge of getting everything ready for four wheel drive. I have an 87 MJ 4.0L Automatic. I'm going to be putting in an AW4 Tranny and NP231 T-case. I need to know how long my drive shaft needs to be. I'm planning on cutting the 2wd one down and using it. Anyone know what the length would have to be? Thanks Egg
87manche
you longbed or short Aaron? I've got a shortbed driveshaft in the garage that belongs to Jeff, I could measure that, or I can measure my LWB d-shaft, but it's an AX-15. Not sure if the trans length is significantly different. Pete M
An AW-4 itself is longer than an AX-15 so the d-shafts will be off by like an inch or so (with the AX-15 having the longer d-shaft). If he's adding a lift, he might be able to use that extra inch.
Zirzow
When i did the 4wd swap on my truck i used the AW4 and an np242. I cut down my drive shaft. My measurment was 48 3/4 inches. Hope that helps.
