Boilermaker Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Do'h i replied to your pm before i started reading the classifieds and read the post above...ECM i have is from a '92. I don't think its going to work, but i'll post up and see if someone can confirm that. pics of the shift cable still coming tho.
Geonovast Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 87 and 92 are not interchangeable. HO ECUs are completely different from the Renix ones. They don't even mount in the same place. He'll need an 87, 88, 89, or 90 4.0 Auto ECU.
Wildman Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 If no one else jumps in, I'll cover you on the ECU (I have an '88 AW4 unit) And the shift cable.......do you need both cables??? the tranny cable and the lock out cable?? Also, there is a slight break on the ECU's from '87-'88 and '89-'90, at least in part numbers :hmm:
Akula69 Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 The truck is a early 87 model, so the 88 ECM should be great. I only need the shifter to trans cable, not the interlock cable. PM sent.
maddzz1 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I just re-routed the column shift cable when I put in the floor shift. Mike (comanche87) did the same. It is a tight stretch but it works fine.
