So I have been looking for a steel bed plug for my MJ. The dealer says they don't make them anymore so I have been calling JY's for them. Here is my story:

I called a JY in OIL CITY this morning, they said they had "A" Comanche that the bed was beat up. I asked him if the bed had the steel plugs in it. (The ones on either side under the slider window.) He said I don't know what you are talking about you'll have to come look.

So I threw the Garmin in the "other" Jeep and headed off. When I got there I said I wanted to see that Comanche he said was there. He said "I can't take you back there today, I'm by myself." I didn't know what to say so I said, ok I'll just drive back and take a look. He said that was not possible due to insurance regulations. So my question is: "WHY ARE YOU EVEN OPEN!!!" He said "If I had known you were going to come out I would have told you don't bother and wait till Monday." Just my two cents: If you would have gotten off your but and looked for me we wouldn't have this conversation idiot.

I hate the government, lawyers and all they stand for, all they did was ruin it for the rest of us.

Don't get me wrong, everyone needs a job and a career, but if the world wasn't so cruel we could create other jobs that aren't so emotionally trying.

If people were all honest there would be no use for any of this, if a car falls on you out in the JY and you sue them because you're stupid for working on a car without jack stands that's your fault and you should be entitled to nothing. If they had a waiver form you could sign I would certainly sign it.

What happened to the days when you could just roam around the jard because you would just like to look around?

So if anyone knows of a plug please let me know so I can get the bed Line-X'd. It's the only thing I am waiting for.

CT is the same way except you cannot go into the yard at all. The employees have to pull all the parts. You are not even allowed to go look at the car before they pull the part.

This makes the JY useless for any small or obscure parts as the flunkie pulling the parts only knows what his book tells him and that book only covers common parts not small things like interior lights or trim pieces.

Most "closed" JY have that policy that No one enters the yard, or enters the yard unescorted.

The main reason, besides safety, is theft  If they let you back there, and your pulling ECU's and PCM's off vehicles, and "hiding" them, first they lose that inventory, and lots of $$$.

I'm not saying you would do this, but the thousands of others before you that ripped off the yard, and they set their policy.

I have one "closed" yard, that I can pull my MJ right in the back, next to the vehicles I want to pull parts off, and load up the bed, and then have them check it on the way out, the reason is.......I've been dealing with the yard for 20+ years, and, well, they trust me

I've also bought alot of parts off them, that they have pulled, and some items, it's easier to let them pull, because they bring the vehicle up to the shop on a front end loader, and pull the hot wrench out. They don't allow any torches or jack in the yard.

It is wrong for them to tell you to show up, and then turn you down because they were short handed that day  That might be one yard to avoid in the future, unless it's the only yard near you :dunno:

If you start dealing with that yard often enough, they will get to know you, and trust you, and you'll soon be walking the yard, finding what you need, and saving then the trouble of pulling off little parts that they can't afford to pull.

One reason I like the P-n-P is you can pull off the little odds and ends yourself, that have no value to the yard itself, and you know it's what you need, like visor clips, or hood rod clips, and they charge you $1 for a handful of plastic parts that they don't even know are worth there weight in gold to us

Now, back to the parts your looking for.........Will Red do you???

I got a MJ half tore apart, and I'm sure the 2 oblong plugs your looking for are still intact. I'm heading over soon, and will pull them, drop me a PM tonight with your shipping info :D

What yard in CT do you go to? I know chuck and eddies allows you to go into the yard.
