MJ is dead
Does the brake booster always have a vacuum sound to it? What I mean to say is, do all mj's have the hissing noise by your feet, that goes away when the brake pedal is pressed? Or do I have a major vacuum leak. This is not the first jeep I've had this with, we had one at the body shop do the same thing. And my '90 XJ did it too. But that thing needed work :dunno:
HOrnbrod
No, the booster should not be sucking air / hissing. Sounds like the internal diaphragm is torn. Best to replace it.
MJ is dead
The whole booster?? Sound pricey...

james750
May I suggest the WJ DD booster. Just as easy to install, BUT the pedal stays at the same stock height. EDIT: BTW its not that pricey, my swap for the Master and booster was about 60, I used junkyard parts and rebent/flared the prop valve side of the lines. Wait so the gen II booster changes the position of the pedal? Cuz right now my brake pedal sits a lot higher than the gas and that is annoying! comanche09
I have a '95 XJ Booster and my pedal is at the factory height. Just remember to grab the aluminum spacer behind the booster from the XJ.
