Squeegy410
Ever sence I bought my MJ it has had this problem. Some times when I start it it will rev up really high until I get it in gear, then when I clutch it it revs up again. I found recently if I push the throttle and get the rpms even higher than they are and let them fall back down it stops, but what causes this? Geonovast
Sticking IAC is most likely, but it could be an o2 sensor. Pop your IAC out and scrub it down with TB cleaner. Also check around for vacuum leaks.
Squeegy410
sorry for ignorance but what exactly is an IAC and where would I find it?
1986Comanche
sorry for ignorance but what exactly is an IAC and where would I find it? IAC stands for Idle Air Control. The IAC is located on the front of the throttle body and to the left of the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Here's a picture showing the IAC and TPS. I hope this info helps.
