bkdrocks Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Are Dana 30 and Dana 35 axle tubes the same size? BTF has a perch set for a Dana 30 yj front but none listed for a 35 rear??? Because of the current economy I have to keep the 35 under the rear for a little while, money can be spent in other areas until I get this project closer to being finished. OR does anyone have a suggestion of better ones(perch) to buy. Thanks
Geonovast Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Check MOPAR Performance. They carry perches, and from what I've heard, they're gonna be cheaper than most other places.
bkdrocks Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Thanks, after i posted this i searched past post and found a thread about the same subject. I'm going to take it to my shop in the morning and do the lift. So I will pick up some tomorrow. B
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 In most cases your doing a SOA swap when welding on new perches. Yes the Mopar one's may be cheaper, but they are not very long. When going SOA you want a longer perch to help fight axle wrap. The "aftermarket" one's typically are much longer and will help prevent problems down the road. Long story short; in my opinion spend the few extra bucks and get "aftermarket" and not the Mopar ones....

But if you're using the entire original spring pack, axle wrap is a false concern because with those overload leaves in there, there's NO WAY you're ever going to have axle wrap. IMHO I think the Mopar Performance perches are the way to go. Keep in mind that the Mopar perches are available only cut for a 3" axle tube (which fits the Chryco 8-1/4 axle but is larger than the Dana 44 or Dana 35). However, they can be ground to fit the smaller tubes.
bkdrocks Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Hopefully all goes well today and the lift will be on before sunset....if not its a long walk home from the shop...... I have posted pics in the project section and will update later today. Thanks again.
bkdrocks Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 As usual all didnt go well....Front is finished ,rear is still on jack stands .As big as Atlanta is no one had a 2.5" perch!!! I have a set coming at 11am tomorrow so I will try it again...
