Woody Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 OK I am back and already getting nagged at for speending more time with my mj than my wife :nuts: .... but now to the question, I need to dissamble my steering colom to get to my ignition switch, but how? Help time is ticking to get her back on the road (my mj not my wife)!
aemsee Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 As this is a GM column it can be a PITA. You will need a special lock plate tool to compress the lock plate that is located under the steering wheel. I do this for a living so I have all the tools, maybe someone here knows a way to do it w/out the special tools.

JOMJ87 Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 It takes 2 peeps to make it easier. Just have one person shove the plate down and then you have to remove the c-clip then it will fly off at you literally. That is if that is the peice they are refering to. Cole
aemsee Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Well, now that I reread your post. Are you trying to get to the ign switch, or the ign cylinder? The ign switch is actually low on the column under the dash and connected to the cyl by a rod.
