jmderyke
I would like to switch to a 4.0 but don't really feel like changing everything out and reforming the fire wall, so I'm going to just rebuild the 2.5. My question is; is there a company that produces aftermarket parts for my 2.5 to bring up the power a bit? If not who should i go through for a high end rebuild? :typing: Thanks
Pete M
what's wrong with the engine?
mjtjnj
I had mine bored .030 over, put on a Clifford header, used Yella Terra roller rockers, and installed an electric fan. The fresh rebuild in itself would have pepped it up, but I no longer have to downshift on hills on the interstate! I just saw a guy on Naxja.org selling a 2.5L cam/lifters set. If I hadn't just re-done my engine, I'd jump on that. They are hard to find.

Do you remember who it was? I knew someone who had a factory Stage 3 cam kit that I don't think he ever used. I'd LOVE to pop one of those babies in a fresh 2.5L and see what happens. Pete M
150k is nothing for a Jeep inline. I would check into the other aspects of the engine; sensors, timing chain, etc. There's likely nothing wrong with your block.
jmderyke
My #3 cylinder has lower compression, probably valves. since I'm gotta rip into her I'm going to do the whole thing. also is there any kinda web page out there with all the jeep specs on which motors, transmissons and transfercases that can be swapped? dasbulliwagen
A company outside of Vancouver, BC called accelerated motion has a selection of camshafts available for the 2.5. I have yet to deal with them, but they seem to be the only place Ive found to make performance cams. I think the website is amotion.com, but I could be wrong as I don't have my notes with me right now. A search should easily find them for you, but their website says they are shut down till April... so who knows. Clifford performance carries headers, and an intake that can be set up for carb or custom fuel injection. Then there are tricks like throttle body spacers, cold air intakes, removing the crank driven fan and replacing it with an electric, re gearing the axles, rebuilding with the maximum overbore.... stuff like that. I want to do all this stuff to mine as well when the time comes. I even bought a spare 2.5 running motor to start a rebuild on. Let us know what you end up doing, and good luck!
