possum Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 My owner's manual says AMC/Renault 75-w90 for the trans. It is an 4-speed T-4 trans I believe. Any reason not to use Lucas 80-w90 HD gear oil?

Pete M Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 While the chances are definitely much greater that it's an AX-4/5, it's possible that some 86s got the t-4/5, possibly because they had some left over or maybe the AX series were in short supply. The T-4/5 did come in a bunch of the 84/85 XJs (with no clear rhyme or reason).
