dancome433 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 alright so i have a set of 99 xj seats from my buddies rolled xj, i know they won't bolt directly in, and i would have to swap the seat brackets. and i know people have done it with 84-96 seats, but is there any difference between the 99 seats and say a set of 96 seats? to clarify could i use the 99 seats on my mj seat brackets without a problem?
kar120c Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I haven't swapped out my bench seat yet so I can't answer your question but I can tell you I prefer earlier model bucket seats. The new model seats in my 01 cherokee suck. I used to drive a beat up 89 cherokee and the seats were a lot more comfortable. That is my opinion though and everyone's lower back is different. :D
dancome433 Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 yea and ive thought about finding some old xj style seats and put them in, but after my buddy rolled his cherokee i figured free seats is better than looking for a decent pair of seats and having to buy them
Pete M Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 You'll have to find a way to adapt them. The 97+ seats are very different. In fact, I think the seat bracketry changed in 95 or 96. The newer seats are still worth while though, they just need a bit more effort/creativity.
dancome433 Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 thanks alot, yea there will be plenty of effort, and some creativity,
