Fuel sending unit.

What ohm do the sending units operate at on our trucks. I need to buy a sending unit for my fuel cell. My truck is a 1986 LWB with the 2.8v6. Thank you. :cheers:

From what I can find on the NET, most say 0-90 ohms. Here's a link that tells you how to find out from your current sending unit (if you have it and it's not broke)

EDIT: Just went out and played Mr. Wizard with my volt meter using the instructions from that link. Had two different years and one came out 5-95 ohms and the other came out 10-110 ohms. I'd give them a fudge factor of + or - 5. I've got an 86 one somewhere, so when I find it, I'll check it out as well. I figure since they used the same gauge up to the point they went HO, they should all read the same.

Found the 86 unit and it was 6-98 ohms so I think that would be enough to convince me that the 0-90 would be right.

I thought the 2.8 had a mechanical pull-style pump. :dunno:

Sending units use electricty to measure the fuel level in the tank, wether or not the engine is injected or carbed.
