Auto Tranny Gods! '89 Buick 3.3L AUTO problems

My beater $#!& its trans last week. Did a fluid change and it was a burnt metallic soup. I have 1st and Rev. Before and just after the fresh fluid, I still had 2nd gear. At one point I noticed that it never plopped into 2nd.

 

I'm not sure if it has $#!& 2nd or the metallic soup caused a further issue.

 

1989 Buick Century Custom. 3.3L has the 4spd automatic. I'm not sure on its name

I've got a 92 Buick Century with the 3.3 and 4 spd auto, I'm sure it's the same tranny. Oil change place topped it off and now it sticks in first and second... so I'm interested to see if these things have common problems..
