Oizarod115 Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 this may sound stupid, however! i have to ask. whats the easiest/best way to fill a tranny without buying some oil pump, and does anyone know what size the fill plug should be? also, would the same gear oil for a diff be acceptable in my goat? or does it have to be GL-3 75-90 (ive already got some GL-5 80-90) i know GL5 eats the synchros in AX15s but what about BA10s?
mjeff87 Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Not sure about a BA10/5, but on the AX- series trannies, I pop the shifter out of the top housing and dump it in from inside the cab. Just put a drain pan under the fill plug and dump 'till it starts coming out. I don't think the shifter is retained the same way on yours tho....you may have to unbolt it. Either way, it's a whole lot easier than trying to fill it via the fill hole :D Jeff
Pete M Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 The BA-10 fill plug is on the passenger side of the trans (I think). It takes a square metric tool and most of us take an old 3/8" ratchet extension and ground it down slightly to fit the hole. Oh, and the Peugeot will take regular ol' GL-5.
Oizarod115 Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 thats for all the advice/ideas. i knew i wouldnt feel dumb after asking. (i was gonna try a long hose connected to the bottle of oil held upside down beside the truck... wouldve taken years i bet.)
