oldrusty
MY buddy called me last night to tell me he bought a mustang so his jeep project has to go. I always told him Id like to have it so I got first dibs. What I bought.......1982 cj7 renegade. straight six 4 speed. Looks to have about 4 inches of lift. 33's on mickey thompson wheels. soft top What I paid for it.......$800.00 The good.........brand new moser rear axles.......brand new gm hei style distributor.......reman engine....new clutch and pressure plate.......Originaly came from mississippi and has very little rust at all.......also has an 8274(i think?) mounted on the front The bad.....its wrecked.......needs a fender grille and hood.....has a small amount of damage on the tub but not much......1 tire has a sidewall cut and will have to be replaced.......someone somewhere was going to pull the engine and cut all the wiring going to the engine. Now to the questions.....does anyone know what auto trannies were used behind the 258ci six? ( wife doesnt do a stick and I'm going to put it together for her mostly. dfreeman616
i don't know what trans off hand came behind them, but an aw4 would bolt up if you wanted to do some adapting for the control circuits. sounds like a decent deal, the reman engine alone could be worth that, depending on how many miles are on it. TNT
They used a Torqueflight A999 wide ratio non-lockup 3 speed. I have one out in the garage. How about I give you $1000.00 for the CJ and take it off your hands. :brows: I'll even come and pick it up. :D
brdhntr
that's a great deal in my opinion. i would have jumped all over it. it should be a pretty easy fix.

Sir Sam
Grab a nice new 4L with an AW4 and swap it in with the engine management and all.
