thedave360
So, here it is. In all its glory. Its a '92 4.0 High output. It has a little more than 100k miles on it and a 4inch lift. The wire harness needed changing because rats ate it. I changed out all the Idiot light gauges to the real gauges, and even mounted the gear indicator into the tach where its supposed to go. It was a real PITA, then once once I turned it on...the tach doesn't work. :wall: Thats it for now. Soon I'll be replacing the rear main seal, getting ALL the gauges to work...even if I have to buy mechanical ones, and some new tires because the ones on now are crap. After that, I will beef up the brackets holding on the back bumper, build a new front bumper, add a winch, and paint it black. After I paint it black, I plan on painting this design on the hood. I will definately be updating when I have pics and work on it. Let me know what yall think.

thedave360
Cool design. Kind of reminds me of the Punisher. Willy Thanks Willy...but I can't take credit for it. Its from the movie "Grindhouse" directed by Quentin Tarantino. This design was on the hood of Stuntman Mike's "Death Car" in the movie. It pretty much screams bada$$edness On another note... This 'Manche has no radio. I currently have one on order from aplacethatgavemeanokdeal.com (i didn't wanna spam, so if you wanna know just ask). JVC AM/FM CD player with AUX input jack in the front, 2 Blankput 4" speakers to fit on the sides behind the seat, all required wiring and hardware, as well as detailed instructions. Everything should be here tomorrow or thursday. I'll post pics of install.

thedave360
Well, the rest of the gauges finally crapped out yesterday. No temp, no oil pressure, no tach, no mph or odo, and no fuel, but the Volt meter does still work. They didn't all go out yesterday though. The speedo was the last straw for me. I'm giving up on these crappy electronic gauges. I'm going to all Mechanical gauges. I'm picking them up today and I'll post pics of the gauges and the radio install tomorrow. Any who... Here are some action shots of My 'Manche! Sorry about the low quaility, it was getting late in the day.

thedave360
So I have finally decided on a name. There are Comanche Chiefs and Comanche Pioneers, but there are no Comanche Challengers :brows: . This Comanche will challenge you in the mud, challenge you on the trails, challenge you in the swamps, it'll even challenge that old rickety shed you don't want in your back yard anymore :beerhead: . The name just sounds pretty bad a$$ to me, and the more time I spend turning wrenches on this thing the more bad it gets An up date. I have painted the back bumper a primer red...which makes look like a big piece of Iron, sanded and primed the rust spots on the hood and some on the body. The gauges have proven to be more of a task than I originally thought. After the gauges are in, the next thing will be tires. A set of 31" Interco TSLs. thedave360
Those are some impressive underwater shots, where's the snorkel? :rotfl2: Yeah well. I guess I over estimated the abilities of my camera phone. This comanche is becoming a black hole for my money, I can't afford my own real digital camera. ....but its funny you should mention snorkel, because that is one of my up coming summer projects. This past sunday, I replaced the rear main seal, radiator hoses, and antifreeze. Nothing was too difficult. The RMS seemed to have stopped puddles of oil from forming under the jeep. When I drained the antifreeze, it was so nasty....it had sediment! It was brown, rusty, and disgusting. While I the pan down, I noticed the timing chain has more slack in it than my bicycle. That and replacing the bearings have now been added to my list of summer projects. I guess I'll do the water and oil pumps when I go into the engine next time.
