smithe1811 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 It started almost a week ago, its like an intermittant tapping that i can feel under my console. It only happens when i the truck is moving, if I'm in park with it running and its still, then there is nothing, but if i shake back and fourth then it happens and of course it does it while I'm driving. i looked around under there but i didnt find anything loose. or i overlooked something painfully obvious. Thanks Erik :beerhead:
Pete M Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Does the tapping rate increase with the truck's speed?
Eagle Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Possibly the transmission mount has compressed and the exhaust pipe is tapping on the cross member.
JeepcoMJ Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Possibly the transmission mount has compressed and the exhaust pipe is tapping on the cross member. but then it would almost definitely do it at idle. as Pete asked...does it increase with speed? it could be the front drive shaft double cardan needs rebuilt.
smithe1811 Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 no, speed does not affect it, thats why i figured it was just something loose somewhere.
88 Beast Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Mine did same thing, trans. mount was oil soaked and compressed. I like quick fixes. :clapping:
