dracon79 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I have a 88 comanche 4.0l 5 speed. When I get around 2000 rpms the engine wants to stumble specially on the freeway in 5th gear once I get between 60-65 it wants to stumble pretty good but if I go under 60 its fine or over 65. Need help... :hmm:
oldrusty Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Mine was stumbling but only under a load like when your trying to pull a hill in 5th gear. As soon as you downshifted and brought the rpms up it ran fine. Wound up being a bad tps. I tried to adjust it but couldnt get the correct output voltage. Runs great again with a new one.
dracon79 Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Well about a year ago or so I changed out the fuel pump with a shucks carter pump and I just checked the fuel pressure at idle and it is only 25 psi. umm I don't think that is good. :hmm:
tugalo Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 My 88 stumbled badly around 1800RPM under light load. Ended up changing the coolant temp sensor and the Manifold air temp sensor. I also removed and cleaned ALL grounds, added a ground cable from the neg side of the battery to the front clip, and replaced the ground strap with a HEAVY battery cable from wally world. works good......
