Transmission mount

Is it okay if my transmission winds up being 1/4" to 1/2" higher than stock? I've got to build a new mount, and I want to take the easy way out. I think my driveshaft angles shouldn't be an issue.

 

 

 

 

To middle fingers to rusty's for never having installed their kit on a 'manche.

My trans is much higher than 1/2" over stock so I imagine that it'll be fine. Watch the angles and clearances of the t-case shifter linkage. I built a custom bracket setup for my TJ trans, so I don't know how the rise will affect a stock situation. I've never heard of people having problems with the t-case drop kits, so I think you'll be ok.

P.S. I'm genuinely shocked that Rustys hasn't tried it on an MJ!! :shock: They are usually pretty good with their stuff.

I am in the design phase of building a stronger crossmember to function as a belly skid as well. My Plan is to use 3/16 2x4 tubing, drill and notch for the mount. Since the MJ has 4 mounsting holes on each side of the frame at the X-member I plan on using them all. I also plan on mounting it.. int eh same location as stock, for the simple fat that my rear pinion, and t-case linkage are all ready set for that location.

Awesome, that's all I needed to know. I figured there shouldn't be any issues. I tried shifting it, and it shifts fine right now at about an inch higher than normal, so I should be good.

 

 

 

 

 

Yeah, I had to re-drill the transmission mount holes on the crossmember too. Seems there's more differences than they knew of. However, it's all no big deal really.
