I've been a previous owner of a XJ, current owner of a LJ, WK, and now a new proud owner of a '87 MJ for a DD. I'm having one issue getting it ready. The MJ starts and idles fine, but during acceleration it will bog out/miss fire...couldn't get it to rev over 2K without it missing.

What I've done:

new oil pump/distributor/wires/plugs

replaced broken vaccum lines with newused lines from donor '89 XJ

new fuel filter

new cat/muffler

Now the MJ will rev up to 4K with slow/smooth acceleration sitting in the garage. On quick acceleration/test drive, it boggs out again at when trying to accelerate.

What is your concensus? Is the timing off a tooth? Should I do the TDC/distributor again? I have tried "search" with little results...maybe I'm not looking or typing the right key words.

Thanks,

Joe

you say new dist, did you index it when you installed it? a dist a tooth off will usualy idle fine, then run poorly as you get higher into the RPMs
