I have oil in my breather box :fs1: . So I am assuming it is the PCV or CCV. I just thought I would post here and see what you guys thought before I just went on assumptions. I searched the forums but all the posts pertained to the 4.0, mine is a 2.5. So I was just checking, if any 2.5 guys had any advice...

mine does that to

you have the valve cover breather hose that goes to the breather box

it comes from oil vapors in valve cover

nothing to worrie about my motor is 2.5 and have 8000 miles on it and it does the same thing

Take the rear vac line that goes into your VC off and see if its clogged. The line (its part 1 of 2 called the CCV =crank case ventilation, the line going into the airbox is part 2 of 2) Wait... you have the 2.5 4bangger... You should have a big pvc valve on there right?... Still check that line for any clogs.. Not sure what to tell you about the pvc valve,, I'm not sure if you can replace it without going to the dealer..

Well, I pulled the hose near the front of the valve cover and it is just a 90 degree fitting, should there be something else there? I am beginning to wonder if the previous owner had problems with the pcv and just took it out and replaced it with a 90. I don't know enough about how things are supposed to look to know what I should be seeing.

nope thats all that goes there it just lets clean air into valve cover

the other line has vacum to it u have nothing wrong when u turn motor off hot oil vapor colects in line and drip into air box

Well its beginning to sound more and more like this is how it's supposed to be, but it seems to be a lot of oil.

I pulled the line that connects to the rear of the valve cover and and it was clear, but I did discover that the other end of the metal line doesn't go into a hose, it seems that the hose that is attached under the throttle body (I think, it was dark) is rotted off, so the metal line is just going to nowhere. I plan on fixing this anyway, but could this be the cause of at least some of the oil?

ya that needs to be hooked up i will reduse the amout of oil but u will still get it

and will prob. run better with out that vacum leak

Minor Update: I fixed the vacuum leak, and it really smoothed up the idle. I haven't had a chance to clean out the breather and hoses to see if the oil problem lessens, but things have changed for the better already.

GJ, and this is exactly the problem I'm having, just can't find any hoses to replace what were broke. Mine was actually clogged in the valve cover.
