comanche13
i see everyone sells like a 1 ton steering upgrade and what not. would a chevy steering work?
Pete M
Directly off a truck? Likely not. The 1-ton kits are Jeep-specific designs using bigger TREs and parts rather than parts off of a junkyard vehicle. But if I remember right, the tie-rod off of a ZJ is beefier than an MJ/XJ and bolts in. But at 6" of lift, stock parts are at the maximum range of movement and length. An aftermarket kit would be better able to handle the new geometry.
comanche13
ok thanks pete i was just hoping for a cheap solution but i have learned cheap and jeep should not rhyme
Pete M
Cheap and Jeep can indeed go together, but "Jeep, cheap, and tall lift" very rarely go together. Usually you can only have 2 of the three.
BLHTAZ
The ZJ steering is much stronger, but it needs to be from one with a V8 engine
