pug Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 will a1998 ax5 4x4 transmission bolt up to a 1990 ax4 2x2
mvusse Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Not if you want to keep it a 2wd. A 4wd transmission is designed to be bolted up to a transfer case, and can not accept a drive shaft. Conversely, a 2wd transmission can not be bolted to a transfer case.
pug Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 sorry thats what i was trying to say . also what year transfercase will work
pug Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 what year transmission and transfercase bolt up to a1990 2.5 i know they have to be from a 2.5 also 4x4
Pete M Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Any year 2.5L. And any year t-case with the 21 spline input (all 2.5/2.8Ls and 87-90 4.0). I seem to remember that there were a couple choices for input shaft length on the t-case. I'm not positive on the details, but the safest way would be to get them already bolted together as a unit. Maybe someone will be able to fill in that part.
