ComancheKid45
Alright, well 1st off no this isnt for my Comanche. Anyway I have a friend with a 2001 Ford Ranger 4x4 Edge Edition (if it matters) anyway he has a 2" lift kit installed on his truck but needs new shocks (his are maxed out) The shocks bolt up like any other standered shock (same as an MJ) but id like to know the OEM length and/or the length he should order for his truck. Basically i need to know the length for a 0-3" lifted Ford Ranger 4x4 shock. I confused myself but if you have any info, thanks

ComancheKid45
Yes his Torsion Bars are cranked to where his front shocks no longer have much if any upward travel
BLHTAZ
Yes his Torsion Bars are cranked to where his front shocks no longer have much if any upward travelWhy do people do such stupid stuff... :shake: . Torsion bars are NOT for lifting a truck. They are to assist the suspension with ride quality and when you crank them up you get a very rough ride, screw up the alignment, and over a short period of time it will destroy the bars and sag back down. Tell him to keep the old shocks as they will be the right length again soon ;)
ComancheKid45
lol yeah.....I'm glad ill never have 2 deal with crappy IFS (i hope) anyway he did find a set of longer shocks and he's gonna get them installed. Thanks for directing us to the Ranger forum, that place was pretty helpful....either way I'm happy with my MJ and am glad we never had Torsion bars installed on our trucks! :D
