I have an 89 MJ 4x4 automatic on the column, therefore, it has PRND32-1 in the cluster. I am switching from the idiot lights over to the actual gauges w/ the tach. Is there any advice on how to modify the cluster to accomdate. I do not like the idea of having the PRND32-1 sitting on the column and I do not have the $$$ to switch to a floor shift. I will appreciate any and all advice . Thanks again. Shane

Didn't you ask this same question like last week? If you do not like the idea of the shift indicator sitting on the column, suggest you invest in a Dremel tool and carefully hack a slot to mount your existing indicator, then figure out a way to mount it in the new cluster as there are no mounting posts provided in the full gauge clusters. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I did not ask this question last week. If I had, I would not have asked this week, however I remember the thread , but could not locate it when I neede it. I may go w/ BookspanS advice. I'll stay in touch. Shane

Hello all. my first post. I installed gauge cluster last week. "88" with auto shift on column. Gauge cluster had mount posts for PRNDL mount . Careful measurements and Dremel works great. Now back to the JY for a clock, should have grabbed it when I got cluster

Hey Shane...I don't see where he was rude :hmm: . He simply remembered that the same question was asked and thought it was you. He offered good advice from personal experience. The new guy obviously lucked up and found a rare cluster that had what he needed...it happens.

If anyone is being rude, I would have to lay that one on you here... ;)

Had the same experience putting a full cluster from a 88 in to my 87. Had mounting posts. IIRC, had to modify something to be able to use them though. But it worked. And Hornbrod is correct, a dremel tool is your friend.

I must have been REAL lucky because I got two clusters in case one didn't work. Both had mount for PRNDL. One from an "88" and one from an "89" Chero. Both worked but I used the "88" because it was within 400 mi. of my "dummy" cluster. Still got the "89" just in case.
