wolfpackjeeper
If it is on a cherokee or comanche it is a waste of time. You can build a heat shield to separate the filter from the hot exhaust manifold to make it a little better, but not really worth the time. I took the home made setup I had on my stroker OFF, with no noticeable change in power. Even with a Pro built kit, the most you are looking at is about 3HP. I would leave the stock airbox on, put a flat panel K&N in, and leave it at that. The box will also go a long ways in stopping a potential hydrolocking. If your box has the venturi piece in it, you can remove that for a bit of a gain as well.
Pete M
Unless it comes with a heat shield, it's more of a "hot air" than a "cold air" system.
BookspanS
Whats the Venturi piece?
wolfpackjeeper
it was a piece some trucks have between the airbox and hose. None of mine have ever had it, some do though. It restricts air flow a good bit
87mjdriver
I have the rusty's tube. then I took a piece of cardboard and cut and folded it to the shape I wanted, then I took that in to a HVAC company and they bent a piece of aluminium up for me.
