Do plows void warranties

Does anyone know if I put a plow on my 2008 JK if it will void the warranty? I see Jeeps with them on all the time but I don't know if it will void the lifetime warranty on drivetrain.

It shouldn't void the drivetrain warranty, but it might void the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty (or whatever that might have been). When I was interested in buying one I asked if a lift and 32's would void the warranty, and the above is what he told me. Hope this helps.

There is absolutely nothing that you can bolt on to your Jeep that will void any warranty just because you put it on there. There is a thing called the Magnuson-Moss Act that prohibits dealers or manufacturers from doing that. Now...if something happens and they can prove with complete certainty that what you did caused the problem, they can then refuse to warranty that particular problem, but again... they can not void a complete warranty over it.

having worked for ford as a warranty administrator at a local dealership, plows will not void warranties. however, certain performance mods can partially void them, like some banks products on diesels. you should be fine.

To reiterate...

 

Just because you put it on, it can not void a warranty. It must be proven that the modification caused a failure before any warranty repair can be refused...and then, only the issue at hand can be refused, but it will NOT void a warranty in it's entirety. :cheers:

Thanks guys. I was hopping that would be the answer. I guess I will be plow shoping next week. I just think plowing with the MJ is beating it up. I want to restore it so it will be getting retired as a plow truck. :thumbsup:
