shawn
does this sound reasonable ? (inclding labour) wheel bearings are another expensive item. throwing the budget outta whack.
DirtyComanche
Not really reasonable. But I can see how they got to that price. Pump - $80 Labour 3.5x120 - $420 =$500 But, yeah, it doesn't take 3.5 hours to change the pump... I don't even think the book time is that high. mvusse
I got a carter from Advance for like $95, including new sock (have to buy seperate for $10 for some brands), hose, clamps, bushings and stuff. Princes in Canada are higher, though. Probably best off to get a mail order one from Rock Auto. Granted, I've had some experience over the past few months, but I bet I can change over a pump in about 20 minutes, assuming the tank is no more than half full, no need to remove the drive shaft or the fuel tank. Heck, I just replaced my entire gas tank including sender unit (which took taking the pump off the old one and installing on the new one) in 45 minutes. Biggest PIA was the hose clamp on the filler vent tube.
DirtyComanche
Princes in Canada are higher, though. Probably best off to get a mail order one from Rock Auto. It depends how bad the locals are trying to rip him off. Once you throw in shipping and brokerage, plus waiting a week (or more) for something to show up, often there's no point ordering from the south. If rockauto ships via UPS, instantly there is no point. I won't buy anything out of the US that is shipped UPS, and I tell that to every vendor who won't ship things otherwise.
