Virginia
I've picked up a little bounce in the front when I hit dip or a bump. It's like my front end won't settle right back down. Is that bad shocks?
summerinmaine
I've picked up a little bounce in the front when I hit dip or a bump. It's like my front end won't settle right back down. Is that bad shocks? That's probably the first thing I would check. In the UK, they're called "dampers" because they're supposed to damp down the rebound. They don't really "absorb shock." Pete M
New shocks are always a good thing. Especially if there are doubts about the current ones.
BLHTAZ
Sounds like worn shocks to me
Virginia
How do-it-yourself are those for someone who has basic tools and only a driveway to work in?
BLHTAZ
They are very easy and should only take 10 - 15 minutes each...maybe a little more if you have never done it. ;)
Pete M
Spray down the bolts with PB blaster or other rust penetrant the day before. The top of the front shock on the drivers side is a bit tricky. I actually bought a set of ratcheting wrenches for that one bolt (always wanted a set and it was justification enough for me :D )
Virginia
What kind should I get?
Pete M
I liked my gas Monroe shocks. Shocks are like oil filters, you do get something for the extra couple bucks to get the better ones.
BLHTAZ
I like gas shocks and my preference is ProComp ES9000's. Typically are not expensive at about $40 +/- each. I run them on all 3 of my vehicles.
