Pete M
A vacuum leak can cause the defrost problem. That's the default setting for the controls and it takes vacuum to move it. Is the tach original to the truck? Does 1000prms feel like 5000? Or does it just stop at 1000 like there was something in the way of the needle? comanche13
yeah it looks like theres something stopping the needle from going any higher. are the vacuum hoses hard/cheap to change
Pete M
You have to find the leak first. Check the condition of your vacuum canister (in the front bumper on the passenger side) and the lines running into it. They are a typical leak point. carnuck
Look above the gas pedal for a vacuum motor (it looks like a distributor vacuum advance almost). The hose to it gets knocked off by people putting their feet too high on the pedal (sometimes caused by 10 toes down and 10 toes up if you're flexible! Tilt steering is for more head room!)
