I had that happen to my d35 in my tj except i had an open carrier and my spiders went kabooooom and not to mention i was on a major road when it happened. I just pulled the cover to make srue that nothing bad has happened since, and to make sure that there wasn't any grinding going on. I can tell you that when I popped the cover to drain the fluid and inspect it after the nut came lose the fluid was all kinds of pretty silver colors :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

87manche Posted June 26, 2006 Author Share Posted June 26, 2006 well, I did put the Detroit in, but that was just popping the carrier and setting backlash. Just never hought to check the pinion drag. You live and learn, at least the pinion survived intact. I'm going to run it till it dies and put an 8.8 i nnext summer.
