Eagle
Junkyard trucks are awesome! "Saved an MJ from certain destruction" sounds good on a resume. :D Sounds great, but I can reliably report that it hasn't gotten me a job yet.
WahooSteeler
I am usually one of the few who has said a super clean, low mileage MJ is worth over $3-4k, but $4750 does sound awfully steep. Interestingly, unless I missed it, I don't think anybody pointed out that as a 5spd manual in 87, you have the Peugot tranny, which does not have a very good history. I'd knock off $500-1k right there for the near fact you'll have to replace it at one point. Even though an AX15 or AW4 can be found for cheap, it's still your time or paying someone else that makes that an "expensive" repair overall IMO. If you truly plan to wheel it, I definitely would not recommend paying even half of that price. If it is practically rust free right now, I think you could take some aggressive action to rustproof, errr, rust "really slow down" it prior to winter. The craigslist search link in our classified section has not been updating for over a month now, but you can essentially do the same thing with this: http://www."jeep comanche"=craigslist.org This should pull up all Comanche related listings on Craigslist all over the country. If you are willing to pay nearly $5k for a truck, you can find one in as good or better shape for $2k +/-. Then hopefully there is a member from here that is close to where the truck is located and would be willing to go check it out for you. If it passes the vaunted CC member inspection, you can have it shipped to you for $500-1000 depending on how far it has to go. Final comment, if you are willing and able to spend up to $5k PLUS upgrades and mods, how 'bout this idea. Find a $1k Comanche in decent running shape, use it as your DD for now and to get you through winter while you patiently wait to find your $2000+ very nice MJ. Then, you still have $2000 +/- left over to help pay for the build up of your $1000 MJOR* and rustproofing of your MJDD*. :D  *The following must be read in your best super-fast hard to understand radio or TV commercial disclaimer voice. "MJOR (MJ Off-Roader), MJDD (MJ Daily Driver), and MJOH (MJ Occasional Hauler - Real Life Example of all 3 designations supplied by Pete M) are all non-registered and non-trademarked ideas of WahooSteeler and any re-use, reproduction or general reference to these designations are perfectly legal and, ultimately, ego building imitations of Mr. Steeler." ;)

And that little disclaimer you have at the end of your post..... AWESOME! haha! I read it like I was "Mater" from the movie "CARS". :D
Redramman
My Wife found add for our Son's truck on Craigs list. Add had no picture, but it was only about 12 miles away.Paid $500 for 2.5 L 2wd long bed Pioneer 065000miles good body,no holes, some surface rust but doors and rockers are excelent.Needs a clutch and some engine work but drives good.Eastwood sells rust encapsulator coating that is better than POR-15 .I've used Dupont spray can bed liner on some spots that my plastic liner rubed down to bare steel and so far that works but it's not much thicker than a couple coats of paint and one can barely painted one side and edges of RAM tailgate at $11 a can (they sell gallons for about $60 I think). Redramman
After a month or two if you can't find anything and that truck is unsold you could offer Less$$ .
JeepcoMJ
guys. stop making assumptions based on one picture of the underside. it's just dumb...you cannot tell much from that picture except that it's got a rusty, typical leaf pack and bumper mount, a spare tire (and a carrier that actually holds it up), and a dana 35 rear get us pictures of the rest of the body before we can tell you it's worth it.
