highlandjeeper Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I have installed RE 4.5" coils with 2" spacers. I have RESF adjustable UCAs and LCAs and I need to know where to set my lengths at. I used the numbers posted in another thread (LCA=17.25, UCA=15.5) and I have 10-11 degs of castor and pinion is approx 0 degs. Are these numbers just a basic guide? Do I have to just keep adjusting until I get the angles I need?
89eliminator Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 i found that any of the measurements got me in the ballpark of where i should be. it just took some turns here and there to get it right.
CWLONGSHOT Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 http://www.yuccaman.com/jeep/re_db.html#arms This gives you close approximations with DB's. But your right there with the Castor numbers. I like 10 but began the get some funky DS angles with any more than that. CW
highlandjeeper Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 I set my lengths as follows: LCA=17" UCA=16.25" Castor is now 5.5 degrees and pinion/ds angle is +/- 5 degrees. I should be able to road-test it tomorrow night if all goes well and see how things are and take it from there.
pingpong Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I have personally found 7-8* to be best, but with a good alignment it shouldnt matter. The drive shaft angle would be what I was worried about, it will cause vibes. :brows:
mjeff87 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I have 10-11 degs of castor and pinion is approx 0 degs. Mine was not driveable (very far, anyway) with similar numbers when I lifted mine. Got 1/3 of the way home from Pat's house and had to stop and drop the front DS before it self destructed. I reset caster to about 6 degrees and it's been fine since. But that was with an AX5, front DS is about 4" shorter than an AX15 or AW4 rig. I might be able to get another degree or two of caster when I get the 4.0/AX15 in place. Jeff
