Front leaf springs

Has anyone built a trail rider MJ with front leafs instead of coils, my son is on a limited buget and is leaning this direction. I told him to save his money for a long arm, truss for the 44,etc. but he thinks the leafs would work for him

A few have, I am not one of them.

 

I don't know how much cheaper it would be....

with all the fab work and stuff and time... he would probably be better off with long arms

its not really much cheaper, you've got to have a built front bumper to mount the shackles to,

 

a GOOD welder (whether that be you and your machine, or someone else it needs to be quality)

 

a GOOD eye and tape measure

 

leafs to play around with, YJ 3" will do IIRC

 

and alot of cutting/down time.

 

then you have to do an OTK steering kit because the stock steering runs where the leafs will be mounted unless you go SUA
