wheel on tire

maybe a dumb question... how well does a 245/75 16 fit on a 16x10 wheel? i'm not going for big tires (obviously) but i want to make sure it's not a crazy fit.

i got a really good deal on some wheels, then found another awesome deal on some tires. so....

I'd run an 8" wide rim for that size tire if I had a choice.

IMO, that is too wide of a rim for that tire.

That wheel is way to wide for that tire as the tire is only 9.64" wide. The tire should always be at least 2" wider than the wheel. Definitely would not go any wider than 8", but that tire is intended to be on a 7" wheel.

 

Not only would it look very goofy, but it is not really safe either as there would be too much chance of the tire coming off the bead with only a slight loss of air pressure.

let me ask though, what would be the optimal width?

For that tire? 7" as Brent mentioned earlier. But anything from 6.5 to 7.5 is acceptable.
