I know I have seen finished overhead consoles with the temperature and compass and I saw a write up a long time ago but I searched and can't find a write up on how to do it.

Longbed fuel tank in a shortbed?
skimore11 replied to Bounty Hunter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Any progress on this? -
Man these people love the Comanche. The second half is better then the first. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjK0zi49 ... h=comanche

Here is some info I have collected so far. http://home.comcast.net/~rossmd/Rossmd/bumpers.html

I was afraid the space was too tight. Any ideas on other Wrangler tanks etc that might fit? I checked out the wiring diagrams and did up what I would do for wiring. The ORG/BLK line is the existing power coming from the ignition.

I have been thinking about summer trips and how far I can go. With gas often significantly more expensive the further from civilization you get. I don't like the idea of a tank in my truck bed. My question is has anyone here put a second tank under there Comanche? Did you use one filler or two? How did you pipe and wire it?

These are the best price I have seen by far and nicely done. I am going to buy these if I decide I want side protection and a step. http://www.inchwormgear.com/store/produ ... cts_id=935 Otherwise I will just build my own with one rail tight to the pinch seam.

I have the short wheel base MJ so from my quick measurement its 73" fender flare to fender flare. I am trying to visualize how the 67" rails would look centered.
-
So I took my MJ to a friends to see his M715 http://home.comcast.net/~rossmd/bb.htm and take some measurements for building a bumper and repairing some frame rot. I didn't like what I saw So we went ahead and cut and bent some 2x2x1/4 to match the rail. It took 3 bends (the obvious and the two polished sections on the bottom) to get a decent fit and a notch for the bed support. Its not going to win any beauty contests... that frame rail was dirty and did not agree with the MIG even when brought to a shine. Not sure if I will take the time to cut this off and rebuild the frame. I would like to add some steel to attach rock rails. The rails would hopefully provide some ladder support. I am thinking about buying these. http://www.inchwormgear.com/store/produ ... cts_id=935

anyone run 31s with SOA lift?
skimore11 replied to Oizarod115's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mine came with 31" BFG AT's on it and a SOA lift. I have been happy with the look and performance so far. -
By the time I had gotten home my father in law had bought me a new one. He said it was 100A. I looked at doing the 136A upgrade from a Grand but it didn't seem to be a drop in replacement like on new comanches. http://bc4x4.com/tech/2004/jeepalt/ Thanks for the voices of reason. So many guys are all about praising every upgrade no matter the cost.

Mine went down pretty similar to this (see link) including the seat belt light. Only difference was I was on I5 in rush hour traffic and the head scratcher for me was after about 15 minutes on the side of I5 I try it again for kicks and it starts. The battery had gone back up to around 11 volts from off the dial. They didn't teach that in Electrical Engineering. I can't figure out why other then the motor was loading down the battery. By the time I went 300 yards to a rest area it wouldn't start again. Any recomendations on alternators? http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... hlight=alt

I have the "comanche" bedliner in my MJ. I bought the truck used and did not install it and have not taken it out but from what I can see... I have 3" diameter wholes near the four corners with access to a nut (screw head in the liner) It feels like there is a piece of sheet metal as a washer that goes up and grabs the lip of the bed. Make sense?

I finally got around to getting my build sheet for the 88 MJ from Jeep.com It doesn't have the info I wanted and doesn't make much sense. Was looking for the stock gearing and tire size for this Jeep. Anyone know what the Indy 500 Special Edition is? And I know I have a 4.0 I6! The windows look orginal and are not tinted. More confused now then before. Thank you for your email to DaimlerChrysler Motors Corporation regarding your 1988 Jeep Comanche Pioneer. anyone here run SOA and 31's?
skimore11 replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The comanche I just bought has SOA 5" lift and BFG AT 31s I don't know how much the springs are sagging but seems fine to me. -
I am a new Comanche owner who has very little experience with doing his own work. I was wondering what is available for the Comanche as far as manauals. Is the FSM the way to go or does Chilton's or some other copmany have a better book? I am looking for something that leaves nothing to the imagination. My first project is to clean up the wiring and make the lights etc relaible. Thanks, Mike 1988 Jeep Comanche I6 4.0L 4x4 SOA lift

I don't have a MJ yet. I plan on getting one and was doing some research. I found a site that sells quite a few MJ lift kits. Some of them are quite confusing with no details of what is in the kit. But its some place to start. http://rockymountainsusp.com/jeep_XJ.htm
