  1. Alright I stumbled on this today. If only it was for the consumer. http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/news/ch ... ep/j8.html http://autoreview.belproject.com/item/486
  2. This looks familiar but couldn't find it when I searched so thought I would give this guy some praise here. 99 front, bobed bed, custom tail lights, tires...oh you want to see it http://www.pavementsucks.com/forums/vie ... opic=94770
  3. Alright I was poking around under my MJ today. The tail lights are all wacky but still legal.. I think. I will have to find my manual and do some testing.... or just leave it. Anyways I found this when I was under there. At first I thought the oil was from my massive oil leak/ blow by problem. But then noticed the breather line was disconnected form the axle. Finally my question. What is the deal with the tiny ball joint? Were they orginally used to help locate the axle?
  4. I wired my VHF radio into one of those to pick up power. There is a switched power and a constant power in there. I just pulled the yellow cap figured out which pin I needed and then covered the connector with electrical tape and poked through the one hole I needed. The wire I was using was tined so it was stiff. Worst part is thats my best wiring under the hood.
  5. I am in Oregon. I don't belong to any clubs other then Jeep Patrol Search and Rescue. Search and rescue doesn't really do any challenging trials but its great to get out and really learn maps and forest roads as well as all the other good stuff.
  6. I am in Portland and just e-mailed the guy. Asked for a picture of the roll bar and front bumper. I will let you know.
  7. Haven't seen this video before. Its pretty impressive. I will have to check out his myspace page some time. http://www.truveo.com/me-tearing-up-my- ... 4103063490

    $1000 per day?

Traveling to site for work is not what its cracked up to be. I was just a few states away on what was supposed to be a 2 week job... ended up being 6 working on Thanksgiving etc. The only reason I got out of there was that I had plans for Christmas months ahead of time.
  9. If you are using the website to track your package its probably not accurate. My brother in-law used to get written up all the time for scanning the destination wrong when working at UPS. So he would put the package on the right truck but scan that it was going to some other city. Needless to say he no longer works there. Its a shame since they have insanely good insurance etc.
  10. I have the same issue and really need to pull it apart again. Replacing the o-ring did not fix mine. I am pretty sure I know whats going on. Mine is leaking where the fuel line comes through the flange that sets on the o-ring. I found some gas proof goop and fixed it. The problem is that it that there is still flex and the goop cracks. So my understanding is that there is supposed to be a rubber cork in the bottom of the tank holding the weight of the pump. So short of it is make sure there is a something holding the weight of pump other then the o-ring flange. Anyone have any leads on a fuel pump? Any other vehicles use this model pump? Can I get just the piping?
  11. I was just looking at this the other day You can read all about it here http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=914369
  12. I have only done a small engine repair class through Chemeketa. I do not know what Certs they offer. I have friends that are taking more classes there getting ready to transfer to a 4 year program where they can finish out there engineering degree. I am a Electrical Engineer. I have nothing bad/good to say about any other cites in Oregon but do not know them well. I will say Bend has been a great place to visit and I would consider living there if it wasn't so far from an airport that had reasonable flights.
  13. My wife and I moved to Salem, OR 2 years ago and we like it a lot. We moved from Boston so there is not a shopping in Salem for her. But its an easy drive to Portland compared to Boston or any city in Cali. (I drive from Salem to Portland every day for work) The community college here http://www.chemeketa.edu/ has some good metal working courses but not a quick cert program as far as I know. And there are quite a few programs for Preschool certs again Chemeketa and I think the other is Fox University? All that being said there is a good chance we will move to Portland once she is finished with school in Salem. Hillsboro is closest to Tillamook State Forest which is supposedly the best wheeling in the state... hopefully I will know for myself within the month. Good luck with a decision.
  14. I know I am a bit late on this one. I moved from Boston to Salem, OR almost 2 years ago and am still happy I did. The weather here is so much better then Boston. Its not as cold and no snow to shovel in the winter. As you have found out by now its been in the 80's recently but not that humid sticky 80's like on the east coast. More a nice sit out and BBQ 80's. Oh yea and the wheeling here is better. 8)
  15. Nice video you can tell a lot of time went into making that. I may not know a lot about well anything but that guy at the end guiding the spring back into place right at the end looked pretty dumb/dangerous to me... I would have used a stick or something.
  16. I will have to remember to keep an eye on this thread. I moved to Salem, OR about 2 years ago. So far I have been exploring around Detroit lake and some of the dunes near Florence. But always looking to wheel more.
  17. I grew up going to Speculator (Camp Fowler) and still have family in NY. I have found some decent spots on my own but nothing great. It will be really hard to find anything other than some scenic dirt roads without joining a club. I have no first hand experience with this club but from what I have read they are responsible and hit some tough trials. http://www.adirondackjeeps.com/ I must say I am envious. Have a great summer.
  18. I went to Jeep Camp last time it was in Virgina 2004 I believe. I was completely green to all things Jeep and it was a decent introduction. My wife even let me wheel the 2003 WJ. It was basically day camp for adults with everything from a ropes course to motocross exhibitions. Overall it was a good experience. I think my wife would go again. I can picture our camp ground. Nice spot but I will have to ask my wife the name of it if anyone is interested.
  19. I am not normally a fan of hoops but I like it. Glad some one finally realized the use of the hood latch in there design.
  20. I think the chopped XJ's can look great but are not practical cause I like to wheel and camp and can't imagine having a trailer queen. Regardless this is the best metal work I have seen in awhile. Sorry if its a repost. I can't seem to get the album link to work... copy and paste to see the build. http://fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/pictures?userid={C9B50706-F7D6-410E-B99C-36111C35FAC9}&inv=63EFE0C914796A1&userid={C9B50706-F7D6-410E-B99C-36111C35FAC9}&inv=63EFE0C914796A1&albumid={4CD6D08F-A20A-4CB4-B4F5-B8DB4AAFBBA5}[/url]
  21. Stumbled on JRations when looking around Jeepsunlimited forms. Looks like an interesting magazine and they have a forum for Comanches. http://forums.jrations.com/viewforum.ph ... 17f2d35099
  22. I just downloaded google sketchup ... its free and does some nice 3d rendering. You might want to check it out.
  23. Lets see some pics of your Jeeps and these CRD engines.
  24. I don't know who Phil is or why he calls his MJ "The Donkey" but looks like fun.
  25. Alright so I was bored at work and realized I could do 3D in the new CAD program so what am I missing other then mounts for the lights? The brackets show a secondary brace on the front. Otherwise it would be all welded together.
