Rough Idle Problems! (still need Help)
MJCanadian replied to SomeNew Name's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
TO FLUSH SYSTEM: Open your bottle cap first. On the left bottom corner (facing truck) of the rad (remove grill insert) theres a little valve to empty the rad. its a b*tch and a half to empty though. I got a little funnel with tygon tubing at the bottom under the valve and a bucket underneath the end of the tubing. It still went everywhere. If you just open the valve you're going to get coolent all over your floor, cross members and just makes a mess. Then undo your lower rad hose then your top, now you can pull it and flush your rad outside of the truck, or get a new one if its crumbling (mine was) Theres a plug on the block somewhere (never did this) to empty it and I assume you also take off the thermostat housing to get a hose in there to flush it, not too sure about that. Just remember that you can't flush the whole system from one place 'cause the thermostat will be closed. -
Sh*t I didn't even know it was illegal, I definately went threw full on downtown area getting the truck to the inspetion shop cause the MTO wouldn't give me temporary permit. Oh well, aint illegal if you don't get caught eh

haha, whats with all these tow dolly's and trailers? I got my dad to pull me and my truck with rope in a HONDA CRV. Just wrap the bumber and tie it to the trailer hitch on the honda. I sat in the truck and steered (and braked obvi) can't say it was very fast off the line but It sure was funny coming to a set of lights and he wouldn't even need to use his brakes, the comanche would stop both cars.

Finding right Axel at the JY
MJCanadian replied to MJCanadian's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well If the truck is till purring when I'm done school (ways away) or if I get into Military colledge (free) i'll be getting serious with 4x4 conversion, 3 1/2" lift 33's, trimming etc. But for now, its a people mover with small tires and big speakers. So for hundred, hundred fifty bucks total I wanna have a little extra G forces off the line. I've got a bigger engine than all those hondas, why shouldn't I be able to go faster then them? -
Finding right Axel at the JY
MJCanadian replied to MJCanadian's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yah its a 2wd (for now) so I just wanna get the 3.55 ratio, my local yard only has D35's available (that he knew of) and now I have 3.07. Rockhardzj said he could find me an 8.8 for like $250 but I'd have to cross the border then bring it back and go through customs and all that jazz. I still havn't decide which axel to go with but i'm goin to the jy tomorrow for some other stuff so I was gunna look at their selection of axels -
Hey bringin this back from my other thread, called up my my local yard and he said hes only got a U-pick it deal and that hes got a couple of cherokees sitting in his yard. I wanna find a D35 with 3.55 ratio. Pete said that any 5spd will have a 3.07 but what kinda cherokee am I looking for that would have a 3.55? and once I get under them where abouts on the pumpkin is the tag that'd say the ratio?
-
wow $1300 for a RADIATOR? hah, gotta love family who work in the parts buisness.... I got my OEM replacement rad for $96 :Canadaflag:
-
whats the benefits to posi? -I'm not boggin yet ;)
-
whats lena?
-
yah rockhard zj lives like an hour south of me and said he could get me a cheap 8.8 with disc brakes
-
yeah, border is like 45 minutes from my place, just past Hamilton actually, my dad works in queenston (our side of the border) yeah you could write me a receipt for like a hundred bucks or whatever. Its definately spring under STOCK, no lift kits on a 2wd... for now. do 8.8's come in 3.55? cause with my tires I don't think I could run 4.10. If I drop it, havn't really thought about axle swap when i've had it up in the air so I havn't planned on how i'd do it, but I think I could even try and say leave the front bushings bolted and just swing down the axle from the rear.
-
sorry, Its mike, you invited me here from facebook 8) good call on your part. MJ's goin good, got all the floors welded and sealed up, passed safety and now shes my daily driver. 4x4 conversion aint gunna be for a while but check the thread http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... highlight= "More Power for 4.0" thinkin about swapping 3.07 in the rear for a 3.55 First heard about the aw4 shift kit in that group on facebook you were talking about.

Thats looks awesome, kinda like a rescue/recovery vehicle look to it. Common Pete would a rescue Manche painted bright red with one of those be a sick addition to your fleet? ;)
-
haha my bad peterson, have a beer, it'll make you feel better
-
P.S sorry if the thread kinda drifted away but I started the topic so I'm fine with keeping this going, that ok Pete?

by pulling/ drop the axle I meant do I have to unbolt the leafs etc and physically romove the whole axle to redo the gearing- wich seems the case. If I use a lift/hoist I'd only have it for a day and there's no way in heck i'm gunna take out my axel, put it on stands and fart around changing the gearing for a week (figure thats how long it'd take me not including ordering parts that I forgot to order in the first place kinda thing) I'm pretty set on getting a D35..... maybe an 8.8 we'll see.... doing the prep and putting it in. So as far as pinion angle, is it all in the perches? I'f i'm running SUA stock setup wouldn't the regular perch angles work, just need to modify them to fit MJ springs. Or how do I figure out the pinon angle I need, just lift axle up and tach the perches when I think its ok?
-
You still have to drop the axle to regear it though right? If not I could consider regearing, but I hate driving my parents cars and I don't wanna have my truck off the road for more than a couple of days. I'm thinkin find an axle now, clean'er up do all the prep under the truck and on the axle so that when I bring'er into the shop I can get it up on the hoist get some buddies and do the swap in one day. Also I can always sell the axle with the 3.07 gears in it right back to the wrecker.... maybe sandblast it and jiggle-can it to see if the guy'll give me an extra $20 'cause god knows how much he'll raise his price on it if it looks good on the outside
-
So 3.55 with stock-ish sized tires should give me a good boost, and if I were to go with 31's or 33's in the future i'd have to upgrade to 4.10.........starting to see the picture now 8) and gas mileage is proportional to the load and not the RPM's :D . As far as finding a D35- are they only found in Cherokees? or are they pretty common in all Chrysler trucks -calling the wreckers tomorrow moring
-
meh, it aint english, we'll give you a break....BA10/5 how would you know if your manche had one (besides looking.... i'm kinda lazy right now)
-
right now if i'm in fifth doin 120 (Km/h :Canadaflag: :D ) on the highway It revs at like 2000... and thats just bareable with the "muffler" i'm running and I have to keep gas mileage in the equation. So if I were to switch to a 3.55 wouldn't that rasie that RPM at highway speeds?
