Eagle, both Judy's parents passed. Mom passed this April. So, I haven't had anymore trips up thru Connect-a-dot in awhile. We should meet up again when Turkey time comes. Judy and I go up to eat T-day dinner with her remaining cousins on the cape.
Best,
Deano
Keep in mind that the risers in the floor of the MJ over the uniframe are higher and in a different place than the XJ. The rear mounts (studs) are in different places as well. I rebuilt my floorboard and formed my new pieces with the expectation of throwing out a set of MJ mounts and using good XJ mounts that I had here.
We ended up welding new floor tabs onto the MJ pieces. The XJ pieces wouldn't straddle the rise due to the rise being in the wrong place and weren't deep enough to sit on the floor either.
You old dog, you. (said w/ utmost admiration, I might add..)
It's Deano.....otherwise known as Dillinger.
You finally hitched? Hope you got a good one.
Best.
Any XJ with the 4.0L from a 1992 or later should have an "open style" radiator. You need about 6 feet of hose to replumb the heater core behind the dash, and a heater valve from a 1992 as well. Then you can pick up a cheapo overfill bottle from any auto parts to run to the overflow tube in the new open style pressure cap.
Having done this a couple of times on different XJ's, I really suggest a 3 core towing unit from a 1992 or later model.
A small, comfortable, modern 4x4, and oh yea,,,,, A DIESEL, jackass
But other than the fact that it uses the problematic transfercase design of the XJ's that rolled off the assembly lines with vibes, it can hardly be called a real jeep.
:P :P
You left out some info.
Willy's couldn't fill the contract, so the Government tapped Henry Ford's factories to produce the Willy's design WITH Willy's. Oh....and one other little tidbit....
The stamped grill design was all Ford design. Willy's was welding slats together. Ford stamped theirs in a press. The Government liked the stamped grills so much that they made Willy's use the Ford grill on the trucks that they stole from Bantam.
Moral of the story is....Ford parts under any Jeep isn't actually a sin.
