  1. Maybe "pop" wasn't the right word. I agree it did take some force. I thought rolling from the bottom and pushing up at the same time worked quite well.
  2. They kind of just "pop" off. I did it by twisting from the bottom up and rolling it off the rail. Be careful, I'm sure they will bend... However, it did take a little force and some strong fingers to make it happen.
  3. Break the studs off and ditch the cheap attachment pieces... No modification necessary to mount with regular hardware... just use the existing holes in the fender and the flare... it mounts up just fine. I used nylon hardware (1/4"-20) to mount mine, just in case I need to take them off again, no rusty studs! :D I'm not sure what is spinning? :dunno: Unless the flare has been taken of before and regular nut and bolt are holding it on. From what I remember it should be a little stud tack welded to a thin piece of metal that attaches to the flare... Like mentioned, it should just break off. Are you working on the front or rear?
  4. Measure the height of the mount (Not including the studs of course). Quadratec advertised mine as 3", but if I recall correctly it measured a touch less. I thought it looked real big at first too, but when you compare it to the height of the stock mount it will make more sense. My daystar was a bit taller but my stock mount was shot and I figured it had been crushed and compacted over the years. Quadratec had actually sent me the other mount originally (1-3/4") and it was WAY to small! No way it would work. I think I mentioned earlier that you might have to grind down some of the excess polyurethane on the front edge to make it fit right...just FYI. Let me know how your install goes. I had to fight mine a bit. I figured things were worn and had settled over the years which was why it was a bit difficult.
  5. Sta3/7... are you still with 3/7? Heard they were in the rotation for this year. Semper Fi, Devil Dog! As for the communism comment... Jeepgal might want to think before sounding off next time. Last time I checked the USMC had killed enough communist, jihadist, and whatever else you can think of to prove whose side they are on! OORah! :USAflag:
  6. Got my replacements at NAPA too. Front and rear cables :D
  7. I'm still running my stock engine mounts with my poly trans mount... anyone else? :dunno:
  8. It may be just me but I wouldn't waste the money on the factory mounting hardware for the flares. It just seemed real cheap... almost an after thought... that's why I ditched mine and went with my own hardware! :D :brows:
  9. I see on the site that there is a front section and a rear section... Do we need both for the Comanche or just the front?
  10. I bought my replacement front fenders from Sherman's and was pleased with them. I plan to buy my replacement floorpans from them soon... it's one of my summer projects when the weather gets nice this year :brows: I'm not sure about the fit either, anyone with any expeience with this? I'd like to hear what they came up with too. www.shermanparts.com
  11. I removed mine to undercoat the whole inner well when I replaced my front fenders, but then I replaced the plastic... I wouldn't leave it out because all the mud and road grime gets blasted back into the fender and all over the door hinges and stuff... kind of a mess in my opinion.
  12. "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem." -Ronald Reagan A personal favorite of mine! Semper Fi
  13. I like the stance as is... I'd leave it. :D Nice looking truck!
  14. I bought my poly trans mount from Quadratec... it ran about $50 if I remember right. It was made by Daystar. Quadratec sells two different ones... make sure you order the 3" (the other is a 1-1/2" and is too small) I have been pleased with it overall. During installation I had to shave down the fron side of the mount with a sanding wheel in order to make it fit right... other than that installation was straight forward.
  15. There are 9 fasteners per flare, 3 on each metal plate as stated. I broke off the majority of the studs when I was removing my flares... so I ditched those silly metal plates and bought some nylon hardware (1/4"-20 hex screws and nuts) and used them to reattach the flares using the existing holes where the metal studs had gone throught the flare. It turned out great and now I don't have to worry about taking the flares off again if I need to... no rusty metal studs! I did al my painiting, priming, and sanding with stuff I bought from the auto parts store. An assortment of sand paper grits, and rattlecan paint and primer. I did all the prep sprayed the paint and then buffed it out after it had time to thoroughly dry and it all turned out very nice... beter than I thought for a rattlecan job! Before I reattached the flares I applied a thin strip of Herculiner along the fender to just above the attachment holes to help prevent rust and to protect that area. It has been awhile since I did this and I cannot remember if there is a second piece of plastic with the rear flare that covered the gap between the underside of the flare and the matal fender... I think there was and I did not replace it during the process... it just seemed like a good place to catch dirt and salt so I left it off to make hosing out the fender easier and more effective. I'm very happy with how it all turned out. :D
  16. I'm surprised you didn't take the fender flares off for the painting :???: Paint job turned out great though... looks real nice :D
  17. I'm not real familiar with the Rugged Ridge guard... How does it mount? If it is like the other lamp guards I have seen it mounts right to the lamp bezel. I know the YJ and MJ use the same headlamp... so if the guard mounts to the lamp bezel I don't see why it wouldn't work.
  18. I bought my gears and limited-slip from Drive Train Specialist... was pleased with their service. I would definitely recommend them...check 'em out. What axle? $373.08 for the Tru-Trac for Dana 35 www.drivetrainspecialists.com
  19. I've heard the chevy S10 bed is the same size as the MJ... not sure though.
  20. Outside the fact that your other trucks go with the blue/silver two tone... I like the solid color. Truck looks great reguardless
  21. Is the Allison Rough 'N Ready a two piece kit? (One for the seat, one for the back) And does it wrap around the entire seat back or just have the straps?
  22. I am also looking for a bench seat cover that looks nice with a tight fit. I checked out the allison rough n ready 1987Comanche suggested and it looked nice. However, everything else I can find is for full-size trucks. I would just like to see a couple more options before I decide what I go with. Any more guidance that anyone might have would be great. Thanks
  23. What is the chance that the windshield can be removed without them breaking it? I've heard that most windshields are broken during removal. $40 ain't bad eiither though! :D
  24. I see you decided to go with the shackles over the AAL. Curious to see how it turns out. Where did you get the coil spacers from? I've been debating on whether to get the polyurethane ones or to go with aluminum...thoughts?
