[That's a nice truck, but there is a very sad sight in the background] yes, it is a sad sight, but that old girl help me with a lot of donor parts.

I purchased them off ebay when I redid my truck, never had any issue with overheating.

Here's the another extreme..

I purchased my set at www.showcars-bodyparts.com.

I bought a set from him back in Dec. Shipping cost wasn't too bad, got them within 10 days

I finally found a 4X4 at a decent price ($500). It was used a a plow truck for last 3 years, but it runs very smooth. Its a 89 Comanche, LWB, 4.0, Automatic. Dana35 rear end, so front is probably a Dana 30, hadn't had much time to check everything out. Interior is in very good shape, no tears in the seat. Will check in the Spring to see how the frame is (looks good, but will see better once I take the box off), Truck has some rust, doesn't look too bad with the exception of the box, some rust on the rockers, floors feel solid. The drive train feels very solid and runs smooth, shifts into 4 wheel with no problems. I've actually used it many times already to push snow as we had 4 snow storms withing 7 days here (over 3 feet of snow). Truck worked excellent. If all works out I will put a 97+ front end, 6" lift and few other mods and of course get rid of the plow I also now have the option to convert my 88 to 4X4 in the event there is a problem with the frame. Here's a few pics..

part number/ bracket suggestions OEM bumper.
Pfrenet replied to Mobius1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I purchased the step bumper back in September, it came with the bumper, brackets, end caps, skid plates and licence plate lights covers. I'm not sure if the stealership sells the brackets separately, they might, I was lucky to get the bumper, they only found one in Canada. -

I have a new OEM set. I purchased a new step bumper from Chrysler and didn't need them as the ones on my truck were in excellent shape. These are for a SWB. I was going to put on Ebay, but willing to sell to anyone on this site that wants them. Make me an offer if you like, shipping to Michigan is about $25. Here's a pic.. -
I purchased one last week, hope to get it soon. I was surprised that they also offered free shipping, even to Canada.

I've used Nason Base coat/Clear coat paints many times on cars, I've also used on horse trailers and they turned out very well and lasted over the years.

The cup holders came from an XJ and they will only hold cans of soda, mainly all I need it for is to hold my Pepsi. The headliner I purchased over the internet from www.ultimateperformancecar.ca, it's a foamed back headliner material measuring 4'5" wide by 6' long. Cost about $35.00. It was very easy to work with. There is enough material left over ( about 18" X 6') that can be used for other purposes (speaker enclosures, etc.). Comes in many different colors. I used a heavy duty spray adhesive made by Loctite, worked very well.

 The restoration is completed.. I added a 2 1/2" lift to the front. I also decided to buy new rims and tires. Here are some interior shots, new headliner, also changed the dashboard bezel for a woodgrain one. Now I will be searching for another Comanche, this time a 4X4, have a few leads already...

Ya, it is, I added a leaf on the back didn't realize it was going to give me that much lift, I only added 1 inch in the front. I'm likely going to add another 2 inches to the front The leaf springs are quite stiff right now but once I add load it will likey take some stiffness out.

I getting near the end, ..I had to order a near rear bumper and new light sockets for the park lights, the connections were rusted out. Hope to have by next week. All the Interior work is almost completed, just need to add new speakers and sterio system. here's a few pics.. All the decals were made by Spencer from Jeepsticker.com, he did a fantastic job.

Got the truck painted this weekend, can now start putting it back together..

I was hoping to have this project completed, but due to too many other things going on its going to take a little longer..here's where I'm at, I decided to spray on the liner before painting the truck. I used a product called Gator Guard II, I sprayed on 4 coats, I wanted a nice texture, came out very nice.. I then painted the back of the cab and front of the box so that I can put the box back on..also painted under the hood so it could be installed. Once I had the box on, I reinstalled the gas tank, E-brake assembly, etc..Went to start the truck...wouldn't start..saw the gas gauge needle was way past the full mark..figured it was likely the ground..cleaned up around the ground on tank, tried 5 times, no success, I then realized, I likey needed the ground on the left rear light, once done, truck started up right away...what a relief. Next, I painted the inside of the doors, the grill parts, headlight bezels, other small parts..I'm painting the truck a Dark Cherry Pearl Metallic and Silver..It looks like a Darker Candy apple red..pictures don't do it justice. Next step will be painting the truck, hope to have done this weekend

Yes, it's amazing what some will think some parts are worth, I even saw a tail light (passenger side) on ebay with a buy it now price of $124.99, has scoff marks and overspray, he even indicates its pretty beat up, but will pass inspection..they believe their rare ...damn I got 3 sets.

This box doesn't include the lights, or tailgate, only saw the ebrake assemble attached.. I bought my 89 Pioneer for $300 and the box was not too bad of shape. Most I would give him would be $300-$400.. I was at another JY looking for XJ doors, found one in excellent shape, but they wanted $250.00, I was finally able to talk him down to $150..even thought that was too high but it was in excellent condition.

I went to Truro, Nova Scotia yesterday looking for parts at JYs and came across a place called Racos, man, I couldn't believe the amount of truck beds this place had, there must have been over 500 and in good shape.. So, I was curious if he had any Comanche beds and he pointed one out just near where I was standing...I couldn't believe the shape this was in, it was mint, no rust, extremely clean, the Pioneer decals where still on it and not at all faded..I ask him how much, he told me and I had to hold back laughting in his face.. He's asking $1200.00... So, if anyone is in need of a bed badly over the next 10 years or so, I'm sure this one will still be available..

I got the front end done this weekend, welded in the new bump stop and added 1" lift and new shocks. Need to get larger tires.... I've been eyeing the ones off the YJ ..wonder if my brother would notice them missing.... Started putting her back together, installed new fenders and header panel. Hope to have completed in two weeks...

Taking the box off is not hard, at least I was fortunate that all the bolts came off easy. There are 8 bolts holding the box on. You also to remove the gas tank straps, gas spout , E-Brake assembly and the wiring for the rear lights. It took me about 2 hours to complete.
