  1. yeah, the noise is less when I'm stopped, its quieter and on and off, then when i gas it, its constant to 5mph or 10mph depending on the incline. tranny shifts fine, no stumbles or hesitation, i don't have any lack of power....well i do but only because its a 2.8, not from the noise. Erik :beerhead:
  2. hmmwv....
  3. it does it when I'm in gear and not moving though.. Erik :beerhead:
  4. steering wheel doesnt move at any time. exhaust is new and has no leaks. there is NO noise in neutral. i still have to crawl under there and check those four bolts that wildman mentiones. i don't think that its something loose in the engine compartment because the noise is either behind me, or at least it sound that way. i can feel the vibe slightly in the seat when it grinds. there isnt any squeeks, and the grinding sound doesnt sound like grinding gears would, more like...hmm, well, if you took a ball and rolled it across your drop in bed liner really fast, does that make any sense at all? Erik :beerhead:
  5. i sure did, so that makes things worse huh? :headpop:
  6. i did that, there was no noise.
  7. ok so if it is a loose chain, how do i go about fixin it, is there a way to adjust it? or do i have to buy a new t-case? or somehow replace the chain? Erik :beerhead:
  8. if that were the case here, how would i be able to tell if it were the chain and how could i fix it?
  9. sorry, auto with the best engine in the world......2.8 baby!
  10. dang pat, why can't we live closer, i would give you my MJ for a while and just say make it mean! oh and give you money i guess.
  11. I'm pretty sure its coming from the rear. i should have also mentioned that when the truck is in park, it doesnt make any noise. when its in gear and stopped, then its not a steady noise but pretty constant. when i move forward on a flat surface the noise cuts out around 5mph and on an incline it stops at 10 mph. does that change anything? Erik :beerhead:
  12. HAPPY EFFIN BIRTHDAY DUDE!! Erik :beerhead:
  13. anyone know where i can get some olympic white spray paint? or at least which color is closest to it? Erik :beerhead:
  14. so sometimes when I'm at idle and all the time when i hit the gas up until about 10 mph i get this kind of...i don't really want to say grinding but thats the closest description i can give. its a grinding sound. would this be a u-joint? Erik :beerhead:
  15. yeah mine was just the stop lights, i still had turns and hazards
  16. if you pull off your lower dash, look on the right side of your steering column. there is a big @$$ plug there and if you follow the blue wire from your brake light switch it will go into the top plug where it mates to a white wire. on the side of the plug with the blue wire, where the blue one goes into the plug, there is a little metal connector, it was pulled out just a little bit and not making the connection with the white wire, so all i did was push it back in. does that make sense? I'm tired so if i didnt make a good description i will attempt it again when I'm more awake. Erik :beerhead:
  17. SUCCESS!thanks to fiatslug87 sending me the schematic from the FSM and absolutely no thanks at all to Haynes, in fact EFF Haynes right up the A! problem was just a recessed connector in that terminal on the steering column, where the blue/black wire connects to the white one. I have stop lights again! thanks again fiatslug87! Erik :beerhead:
  18. thats the thing, I'm not getting any power from the cab back to the lights, so it gotta be in the dash somewhere i think. Erik :beerhead:
  19. i havent dug into it much since last time, i don't have much time during the week, but i did notice this weird wire that loops out from befind the fuse box and then beck behind it, in the middle it has a 25 amp fuse in a soft plastic holder and its all melted together, the wire looks aftermarket so i didnt think much of it, but now I'm a bit curious if was a rigged up brake light wire :???: dunno. i got a schematic from fiatslug87 i will have to bounce it off of that and see. Diane you probably know more than i do, maybe i'll just give you my truck for a while and throw some cash in there! I'm just kidding, that would take all of the fun out of it! Erik :beerhead:
  20. Cozzee? cozzee, i want an effin cozzee!
  21. :headpop: new switch did not fix it, i also replaced the plug for the switch..nothin, i hit the plug with a multimeter and got 10. something, that sound right? any way, i tested the blue wire all the way(i started in the back  ) from the lights up to where the harness goes into the cab and got nothing, so i guess its a bad wire in the cab somewhere, any ideas where i should look first to save some time? this is my DD so working stoplights are kind of a must. Erik :beerhead:
  22. i just pulled the switch out, thing liike pretty corroded, off to autozone for a new one! thanks for the info, i'll let yall know if it works or not. Erik :beerhead:
  23. since I'm not a manche master yet, I'm going to assume that would be located under the dash by the pedal?
  24. I'm having some issues with my brake lights. sometimes the work, and sometimes they don't, the tail lights and hazards and turn signals work, just not the stop lights. a good schematic would help or if anyone else has had this issure some info would help too. thanks! Erik :beerhead:
  25. Dude, No disrespect meant, I hate to be the one to tell you, If this is actually true you are the only person in existance who had DW caused by worn out shocks... No matter what anone tells you shocks, good bad or non existant CANNOT cause death wobbles. At the very least, yours was minor and the new shocks are meerly masking a continung condition. The same is true of spark plugs abd wires...I am not saying you didnt get a shudder or very rough running engine from these items. What I am saying is they cannot possibly cause, effect or have any thing to do with Death Wobbles. CW well, there is no way that i would be able to make any kind of argument here because i can honestly say that my auto knowledge is pretty limited right now. I'm sure the possibility exists that i somehow just masked an underlying problem, however the fact still remains that i had violent DW at 45, and when i replaced rear shocks, i didnt have DW anymore. if you have another explanation as to what it could be, i would be happy to here it so i can fix whatever else it may be and prevent future DW :beerhead:
