Thanks for the fast reply. Its not mine. And now that I know what trans it is, it never will be mine.

I know its a bad pic but if anybody can tell I would appreciate it. Pugeot (spelling?) or ax-15?
-
This is the one I'm referring to. I thought it was a factory installed one. Sorry for any confusion.

The gas tanks are made of steel. I painted a gas tank that was in a bronco that I had. I hit it with a wire wheel on a grinder (after all the gas was removed and left sit for a day or so for all the gas vapors to dissapate) and sprayed it with rustoleum automobile primer and paint. Held up very well. Will be doing the same with the one in the manche when I go to fix that damn brake line. :wall:

I'm going to be replacing my brake line for the rear brakes today. The truck is at my buddies house 30 min. away and I would like to pick up the stuff on the way there. I did somne searching on here and found out the hard line size is 3/16" but 3 different sizes of fittings. What size(s) do I need to replace the line from front to back?

If it only had a tach. :wall: -
I was watching those on ebay. Thinking hard on bidding on them. Definately interested in results of the test fit.

My 86 x has 4:10's behind a 2.8 and it don't like highways let alone hills on highways. They are stock on mine so check what you got first. Don't mean to screw up a sale but I wouldn't want someone to pay to have an axle shipped 600 miles just to find out he already has 'em.

It is a 91 and chrysler didn't send me any codes just a list. Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center regarding your 1991 Jeep Comanche. Anybody know what some of these mean? Right Front Spring Group XIV Left Front Group XV Rear Spring Group I Spring Special White Appearance Grp Kicker/SRT Livin' Loud Audio System (I assume this is just upgraded speakers) 5 Additional Gallons of Gas (I assume this means I have the 23 gallon tank) Everything else on the list is pretty self explanatory but when they get into the "group" packages where do you look to find out what was included in that group?
-
The install is stupid simple. Gotta love that. I will definately be keeping my eye out for one.
-
Hey Hornbrod x2 on where did you get that and how much of a pain was it to install?? That looks really nice. Does it light up with the dash lights?

For a 91 with a gear indicator for a column shift. Do they exist??????

Need measurements please.
shdbriding replied to beaterjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's really not the best way to measure heightbecause it's affected by tire size. How is that measurement affected by tire size? -
Just picked up a 91 pioneer that has a neglected valve cover gasket. Looking for opinions on the best degreaser out there. I have used "engine brite" in the spray cans before and was not impressed. Throw out some names and I'll see what they have when I go to get the gasket.

Machine shop prices????????
shdbriding replied to shdbriding's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just to clarify. The machine shop will only be cleaning the block, honing the cylinders and installing cam bearings. But if that sounds like a good deal I'll set up an appointment. -
I picked up a 3.4L that I want to swap for the 2.8L in my manche. Before I put it in I want to freshen it up a bit with new rings, gaskets, bearings and such. I just got done talking with the machine shop near me and he quoted me a price to cook the block, hone the cylinders and install new cam bearings. The quote was for $325. Seemed a bit steep to me but may be the going rate. Let me know what you guys think.

What to look out for?????????
shdbriding replied to shdbriding's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats good to know about the trans. Is there any problems that are 4.0 specific that I need to look out for? -
I am going to look at manche number 2 hopefully this weekend. I'm familiar with the usual rust areas to check but this will be my first experience with a 4.0L. It's a 90 with a five speed. did they all come with the peugeot(sp?)? The beast is a couple hours away from me so I want to make a good list of things to check to take with me. Those of you that have been on here for a while please bear with me. Image Not Found

Anyone ever..................
shdbriding replied to shdbriding's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Left inner fenderwell be damned that puppy is goin in! Too wild for the street.....nah. -
Put a slant 6 in a manche? Only reason I'm asking is because i got a good one layin around and the 2.8 is on its last legs.
-
Well, I started looking into the items you guys suggested. I unhooked the fuel line to check for descent volume and pressure. Both are fine. While I had the air cleaner off I started it and tried to get it to do it. I took it down my street and back up and it sounds like its backfiring through the carb. This problem developed over the course of maybe two weeks. It would lose power for a few seconds maybe every 5 miles or so and gradually got worse.
